Go get em.........

Wow, pretty nippy out there on the Vedder River last Wednesday ...freezing and the east wind howling....but my pal Gus (another Gus) nailed this nice 13 lb Steelhead ......he was pleased as punch when we met for our daily Flat Earth Society coffee break at the Chilliwack airport cafe...Gus only put in a few hours that day and managed to lose one and land this nice this fine female specimen...way to go gus.....with the river settling down after a snow and flood stage for a few weeks the river hopefully will yield some good Steelhead fishing.

A Steelhead is an ocean run Rainbow Trout that is hatched in the river and runs to the ocean where it lives to maturity then returns to its home river to spawn....A Salmon will always die on the spawning bed ......many Steelhead live to spawn another year and possibly a third ....I would like to know if any have made it a fourth or more....I don't think that data is available....anyway ....If anyone who has ever landed a ocean run Steelhead Trout is usually stricken with an addiction. Fishing is a very effective equalizer of the human race ....Doctor, Taxi Driver, Celebrity, Bum.....the river shows no preference.
