This is a very nice trail in to the river at Yarrow
Wow...I have not been bloggin for about 2 months....kinda got lazy...took some time out....it has been such beautiful weather here this September.....We were out at the Vedder River today...I took a few pictures.......
We are members of the Vedder River Cleanup Coalition and have a small section of the Vedder that we cleanup 4 times a year...there are about 200 people doing this...every group or family have a predermined section to pick up....lots of people....after the work is done there is a picnic kinda day at the Chilliwack fish and game clubhouse, a socializing event with a feed and music......everyone takes their collected litter and deposit it at a large bin....the garbage loads are horrendous...unfortunately there are some very untidy people out there......it was a gorgeous day last weekend....yup......It is a family thing for us......
In 2007 volunteers removed an incredible 9.04 tons of garbage from riparian areas, riverbanks, campsites and trails that might have ended up in our beautiful river.
In the picture of Shirley reading......a way in the background you can see development on the top of the hill at Vedder Crossing....that is directley above the old Pavillion Store area......The traffic there is a zoo.....The Vedder bridge is a stack up area with the local, Cultus and Chilliwack Lake road traffic dealing with stop sign on the north end of the Vedder bridge ....yikes a nutsy area.....but dispite all the new people we still have good access to the river.....that makes it a heavy duty recreation area....fishing, rafting, day use walking etc...yup its still a gem...but a crowded one....only 500 yards from these photos , there are houses out the ying yang.
